Before your first in-home service, save your current entry method, lockbox location, codes, and any special instructions in your Time To Pet profile.
Use a Secure Lockbox
A four-digit key lockbox that hangs from a door, railing, or is wall-mounted is strongly recommended. It keeps the key at your property instead of traveling with the sitter.
Save Access in Time To Pet
Enter the lockbox code and location under My Address → Garage/Lockbox/Door Code. Garage door and electronic keypad codes belong there too.
Keep a Backup Key Available
Electronic entry can fail during power outages or when batteries die. A physical key stored securely on the property provides important emergency backup access.
Test Everything First
Before service begins, test every key, lockbox code, keypad, garage code, and door. If you change a code, update Time To Pet before the next scheduled visit.
Apartments & Condos
If your building or living situation cannot accommodate a lockbox, note the alternative access plan in your Time To Pet profile so arrangements can be confirmed in advance.

If a scheduled visit cannot be completed because the sitter cannot access the home, the service is not refundable. Please verify keys and codes before every trip or extended booking.
Common access questions.
Is a lockbox required?
No. It is strongly recommended because it gives the most dependable physical access. Apartments, condos, garage entry, and electronic keypads can use an approved alternative plan.
Where should it go?
Choose an accessible but reasonably inconspicuous location such as a railing, fence, wall, or door handle. Save the exact location in your client profile.
What if I use a keypad only?
That can work, but a backup physical key is recommended in case of power failure, drained batteries, or device malfunction.
What if my code changes?
Update Time To Pet before the next visit and test the new code yourself. Outdated entry instructions can prevent a scheduled service from being completed.
